Review: The Vaccines- What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?

So, what did we expect from The Vaccines? The subject of much hyping and counter-hyping, the London four-piece's debut surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) somewhat fails to deliver. The Vaccines' singles- 'Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra), 'Post Break Up Sex' and 'If You Wanna' led us to believe that this album had a chance at being a triumph. Instead, it is a whitewash of reverb-laden, uninspired and unintelligent guitar-pop. There are some high-points, though, and those are found at the beginning of the album, before the listener's ears become so fatigued by the dull, predictable and continuous noise that makes up a large chunk of What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? 'Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra)' is an infectious, razor-sharp 1:21 minutes of pure adrenaline-fueled spontaneity, followed by the equally catchy 'If You Wanna', although 'Post Break Up Sex' is the album's shining moment. Bitter and lovelorn, it is the only song on The Vaccines which leaves any lasting impression in a sea of disappointing monotony.
